Before Opening Hours, Chinatown Los Angeles

"Before Opening Hours, Chinatown Los Angeles"
watercolor (16" x 16")

It always amazes me how something, or someone, can look so different...
just by changing the light.
The other day I was up and out early, driving through downtown...
(mind you, not for the purpose of collecting reference photos...but for shopping at sample sales!)
Anyway, I was driving by our was vacant...and bright,
there it sat....looking so different than all the times before.

Today's piece is available, email me if you are interested.

How About This Place?

"How About This Place"
watercolor (6" x 6")

Imagine if you will...
you are out with your favorite gal pal
shopping and lunch.
A day of meandering and finding that "perfect item",
getting hungry and need to get off the feet.....
"How about this place?"

In The Quiet Canal- SOLD

"In The Quiet Canal"
watercolor (6" x 6")

Can't you just hear the "quietness"?
Can't you just feel the dampness?
Can't you just smell the canal?

Can't you just imagine yourself there?
Go ahead...take that moment, picture it.

watercolor (11" x 28")

Sometimes God brings you little gifts...
and you can't but feel the blessings.
Recently, I sold some elephant paintings online...
and a correspondence ensued with the new collector.
Turns out Cindy has been on safari multiple times...and is a wildlife photographer!
She has generously allowed me to use her gorgeous work as reference photos for my art.
Now that is a blessing!
Stay tuned! We are going on a safari via J Hill Paintings!

"Giraffes" is available, email me if you are interested

2nd Street Promenade, Santa Ana

"2nd Street Promenade, Santa Ana"
watercolor (12" x 16")

A few weeks back, I spent a lovely morning with my dear artist friends
We were scouting around Santa Ana Arts district for reference photos,
as we all are participating in the upcoming show Viewpoints: Orange County
presented by Chemers Gallery and the Tustin Art League.
Anyway, today's painting arose from that adventure with the girls.

Citrus and Copper- Sold!

"Citrus and Copper"
watercolor (6" x 6")

Today's painting was a demo for my Thursday morning students.
We had planned to do a still life...nothing specific, but they were to supply the props.
Surprisingly enough, every one of my students including myself, brought in some kind of citrus.
We had lemons (three different varieties), tangelos (which tasted awesome) and limes.
Thankfully Kathy brought in a copper bowl too!
